How to Look After Your Tattoo: Step by Step
-
Response TimeDue to the high volume of inquiries we receive at Magic Line Tattoo Studio, it may take us a couple of days to get back to you. Rest assured, we are working on it, and we appreciate your patience.
-
Tattoo Planning, Pricing, and SchedulingAfter you submit the booking form, we will review it and respond with an estimated session time, price, and available dates for your tattoo. We will hold the date options for 48 hours, allowing you time to choose. If the dates are inconvenient, let us know, and we’ll provide alternative options.
-
DepositOnce we find a suitable tattooing date, you’ll have 24 hours to pay the deposit, securing your appointment. We will send you the payment details for the deposit, which can be made via bank transfer or in-person at the studio. If the deposit isn’t paid on time, the appointment will be canceled, and we’ll need to find a new date. The deposit will be deducted from the total price on the day of the appointment.
-
Cancellation / No ShowIf you cancel the session, the deposit will not be refunded. The deposit serves as a sign of trust and commitment, ensuring that we don’t lose time that could have been spent with another client.
-
Rescheduling AppointmentTo reschedule your appointment without losing the deposit, you must provide at least 72 hours’ notice. If the notice is less than 72 hours, the deposit will be forfeited, and a new deposit will be required to secure a new date. Appointments can only be rescheduled once; rescheduling a second time will result in the loss of the deposit and the need for a new deposit.
-
Tattoo DesignEach design is custom-made just for you. We won’t replicate someone else’s work, but we can draw inspiration from a design you like. All tattoo designs are completed a day before the appointment. You will see the design on the day of your booking, and we’ll have extra time to make any changes or modifications you want. Consultation day or few days can be arranged to see design in person
-
PaymentPlease bring cash to pay for your appointment, as we don’t currently have a card reader in the studio. An ATM is available inside the Co-op shop, just a 1-minute walk from the studio.
-
Appointment ArrivalArrive at the given time for your appointment, and if possible, come alone, as the studio has limited space. Location and parking suggestions can be found in the INFO section. If you’re running late, please contact us. Being more than 15 minutes late for appointments up to 3 hours, or more than 30 minutes late for appointments over 3 hours, will result in the cancellation of your tattoo session, the loss of the deposit, and the need for a new deposit to secure a new date.
-
Getting Your Tattoo on an Earlier DateWe don’t usually get cancellations, but sometimes, it happens. We post all our cancellation dates on Instagram, so if you would like an earlier date for your appointment, check out our Instagram stories (@magiclinetattoostudio) and let us know!

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Initial Care:

-
Once your tattoo is complete, we will cover it with cling film. Keep this cover on for 3-5 hours. If needed, the cover can stay on longer but should be removed by the end of the day.
-
Before removing the cling film, wash your hands thoroughly. Carefully remove the cling film and wash your tattoo gently with warm water and a fragrance-free soap to remove any excess blood and plasma.
-
Dry your tattoo using a clean paper towel by gently patting the area. DO NOT RUB.
-
Ensure the area is completely dry before applying a very thin layer of your chosen aftercare cream to moisturise and nourish the area. We recommend natural oil-based creams like cocoa butter. You can purchase aftercare cream at the studio or from any retail shop, ensuring it is all-natural without perfume or additives.
Ongoing Care:

-
Wash your tattoo regularly using a fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water at least once a day. For optimal healing, wash it twice a day, morning and evening.
-
Apply the aftercare cream 3-5 times a day. Avoid over-moisturising. Apply only a thin layer of cream when the tattoo feels dry. If the skin feels moist, do not apply more cream. Over-application can irritate the skin and affect healing.
-
Continue the cleaning and moisturising process until the tattoo is fully healed. The tattoo is not completely safe from germs and bacteria until it has finished scabbing and peeling, typically 1-2 weeks.
What Not to Do While Your Tattoo is Healing:

-
Do Not Pick or Pull: Avoid picking at the flaking or scabbing skin. This can delay healing, cause fading, and increase the risk of infection.
-
Avoid Sun Exposure: Keep your new tattoo away from intense sunlight. Do not apply any sun lotion to the area until it has fully healed.
-
Avoid Water Exposure: Refrain from swimming and soaking in bodies of water, as they can contain harmful bacteria. Stick to short showers until your skin is fully healed.
Maintaining Your Tattoo:
-
To keep your tattoo looking its best, take care of your skin. Use sunscreen to protect your tattoo from UV rays and remember to moisturise your skin regularly.
